Best Pokemon By Specific Type

Having some fun today!

Nine generations and now over 1,000 pocket monsters roaming the world. From the starter Pokemon (Fire, Grass, and Water) to the mascot (Electric) to the addition of Dark and Steel in Generation II and then Fairy in Generation VI, we have 18 Types of Pokemon with many having two. Until the Pokemon company introduces Type III or new Types, that leaves us with 171 possible combinations.

The Internet has tons of articles listing and debating the tops of each of the 18 Types, but today I’m going to be ambitious and list the top Pokemon for each of those 171 Type combinations.

We do have some ground “rules” – first, the list is alphabetical by Pokemon name. It was the best sort method that also had some logic to it to provide variety (otherwise you get 18 Bug Types up front and poor Water winds up spread all over the place). Second, while the list will indicate some notable Legendary/Mythical/Ultra/Paradox Pokemon, I omitted them from the main list (Starters are eligible though). Third, they were reviewed as regular Pokemon – Mega evolutions and such were not factored. Fourth, the pairs work either way. That is, “Fire/Water” and “Water/Fire” are treated the same.
